Abstract

This report was commissioned by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council toexplore cultural consumption patterns in England. Within this broad research topiccultural lifestyle groups were established, and the members of these lifestyle groupswere identified in terms of socio-demographic characteristics and geographicaldistribution. A closer examination of participation in museums and libraries identifiedthe importance of individual socio-economic characteristics and the places they reside.The research involved using two datasets: the ‘Taking Part Survey 2007-2008’ andthe ‘Active People Survey 2007-2008’.
