Abstract
Poor posture sustained over extended periods of time can cause chronic musculoskeletal disorders. Office employees who spend most of their workday sitting are at a high risk of developing these disorders. Even if a person actively makes an effort to maintain proper posture throughout the day, unintentional deviations can occur. This study attempts to address this issue by developing a wearable device which alerts the user whenever they have deviated from optimal posture for extended periods. Testing was done at an individual level, and the results indicate that with certain modifications the device has a significant potential to attract needy consumers. Additional features which could be included and areas of future expansion are also presented.
