Abstract
For a hydroelectric power plant, the turbine and the generator are one the most critical equipment, because of their faults can have impact on safety, production, capital value and the environment. This makes it necessary to keep reliability at high levels. Since most of the faults produce change in vibrations from early stages, vibration-based condition monitoring can help to achieve this. This work presents the technical considerations and the steps necessary to take in order to design an online vibration monitoring system for a vertically installed hy-draulic turbine-generator.
