Developing psychosocial care for acute psychiatric wards

    Abstract

    The author has reviewed current literature which suggests that it is possible to utilize psychosocial interventions within inpatient care. Through discussion of specific interventions including medication, cognitive behavioural therapy, coping strategy enhancement and education, problems are identified which can impede nurses from developing these skills.
