Abstract

Based on a literature review on disruptive innovation and innovation from emerging economies, we attempts a reinterpretation of the concept of Reverse Innovation as defined by Immelt et al (2009) as a type of disruptive innovation. We argue that the combination of these two theories provides a useful framework to look at emerging economies as sources of new products and technological solutions. Finally, we provide a new categorization of Disruptive Innovation considering a geographical dimension and future research directions.
