Abstract

The decision whether to purchase in-house equipment for coating tooling by PVD (physical vapour deposition) methods or to have the product coated by a service centre is primarily an economic one. The availability of lower cost user-friendly coating units equipped with state-of-the-art technology is beginning to support the former course even for companies with relatively low throughputs.
