Effect of the Angular Position of the Directing Airfoil on the Room Air Conditioner Outflow Characteristics

Abstract

In this study, effect of the angular position of the flow directing airfoil of a room air conditioner (RAC) on the outflow characteristics was investigated by particle image Velocimetry (PIV). Panoramic PIV technique was used for visualizing a wide area at the outflow section which is based on two cameras looking at the light sheet perpendicularly and positioned parallel to each other for taking the images of different sections simultaneously. The effect of the angular position of the airfoil on the eccentric vortex and the form and characteristics of the jet flow at the outlet section is investigated.
