Abstract
This study explores Chinese employers’ and returnees’ views on the skills gained through UK Master's study. Interviews with 17 employers and 19 alumni found that studying abroad developed English proficiency, time management, initiative, adaptability, problem-solving, communication, inclusivity, and global awareness. However, gaps were noted in Chinese language skills, subject knowledge, digital literacy, employer loyalty, professional image management, and social networking. The findings reaffirm the value of a UK degree and offer practical recommendations for curriculum and pedagogical enhancements to better align UK higher education with overseas employer expectations and support Chinese international students seeking employment in China.
