Abstract

In this fascinating interview, we are joined by Dr. Gene Bukhman, a cardiologist and medical anthropologist, director of the Center for Integrated Science at Brigham and Women's Hospital, and the Program on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and Social Change at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Bukhman shares his expertise on the intersection of NCDs and extreme poverty and how this connection challenges global health equity. He also introduces us to the PEN-Plus strategy, an innovative initiative that goes beyond traditional interventions to address NCDs in impoverished populations.

Discover how Dr. Bukhman challenges conventional notions of global health and how his work has positively impacted patients in more than a dozen countries. We also explore his role as a leader and co-chair of the Lancet Commission from 1996 to 2020, which redefines NCDs and injuries in the context of the world's poorest populations. This interview offers a window into Dr. Gene Bukhman's inspiring vision and work, as well as his invaluable contribution to health equity and the fight against NCDI poverty. If you are passionate about global health and the pursuit of practical solutions for contemporary health challenges, this conversation is a must-watch.
