Abstract
This volume explores the nature, causes, rates and directions of environmental change throughout Earth history. It is divided into nine sections. After an introductory section, the following spheres are covered: cosmosphere; lithosphere and barysphere; atmosphere; hydrosphere; pedosphere; toposphere; and the biosphere/ecosphere. A final section examines environmental evolution.
