Abstract
Comments on HM Attorney General v Zedra Fiduciary Services (UK) Ltd (Ch D) on the application of the cy-pres doctrine in relation to a trust established to pay off the national debt. Considers the extent to which the test for determining whether the trust should be treated as having failed from its outset, and the court's approach to modification of the trust to maximise social impact, lean in favour of charity, and the practical implications.
