Abstract
Mexico The study of gender continues to be a topic of interest in communication since in all cultures they manifest differences in the treatment of people according to gender and television emphasizes these differences in different ways. This study detects the gender stereotypes that Mexican television presents through the analysis of 659 characters. For this, a content analysis of the fiction programs of four television channels was carried out in three weeks from seven to eleven at night. The results show biases in favor of the male characters in the protagónico role, adult professionals. Women were presented in traditional feminine roles or as students, young people and in secondary roles.
