Ethical issues in decisions relating to provision of medical treatment gender dysphoria

Research output: Contribution to conferenceOther

Abstract

Which among the many medical treatments for gender dysphoria are ethically legitimate, and should be paid for by the NHS or reimbursed under insurance schemes? How can or should the patient’s interests be assessed? Can clinical guidelines help to resolve the above problems, and more broadly help to assess patients’ best interests? This presentation answers these questions and discusses the role and limits of professional guidelines
