Abstract
A fall can be defined as a situation in which part of the body inadvertently meets the ground or some other lower object. Causes of falls are numerous, with over 200 risk factors documented. Without effective intervention, demographic trends alone will result in substantial increases in the number of falls and fall-related injuries and deaths among older people in the UK.
