    Abstract

Predisposed chem. reactions are the spontaneous, non-enzymic reactions that primitive organisms adopted in the biosynthesis of their natural products. These reactions often proceed in reasonable yields under mild, non-forcing conditions. The synthesis of natural products utilizing this concept is one of the goals of this research group. Application of this approach is illustrated below by our total synthesis of the manzamenones. [on SciFinder (R)]
