Abstract
For monitoring temporal modulation of a laser-generated asymmetric (a0) Lamb wave, a non-contact fibre optic sensor has been used. Simultaneously, an electromagnetic acoustic transducer (EMAT) sensed in-plane acoustic transients of the symmetric (S0) Lamb wave. Measurements in 75μm thick aluminium film show that a0 amplitude modulation is associated with a perturbation from the symmetric wave.
