Abstract
Drosophila has remained at the forefront of biological research for over a century. During this time Drosophila researchers have made essential contributions to our knowledge of fundamental biology and made Drosophila the conceptually best understood animal organism we have to date. Andreas Prokop, Professor of Cellular and Developmental Neurobiology at the University of Manchester, explains why.
