    Abstract

The near-stable nucleus 18475Re has been studied using the 180Hf(7Li, 3n)184Re reaction at 30 MeV. Prior to this work, a number of low-spin structures were known following transfer reaction experiments, but only three γ-ray transitions had been observed following the decay of a t1/2 day, (8+) state. An extensive level scheme has been constructed from the present data, including states de-exciting through the Kπ = 8(+)) isomer and the Kπ = 8(+)) rotational band. Configurations are assigned with the aid of gK - gR values and the comparison of energies with predictions of blocked BCS calculations. Finally, residual nucleon-nucleon interactions for orbitals in this region are collated. © 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
