Abstract
A condition in a patient is monitored by obtaining samples from the patient over a period of time and passing the samples, or gases associated with them, over 1 gas sensor. The response of the sensor(s) is measured and correlated with the occurrence or state of the condition.USE - The method may be used for the detection of conditions in a patient and the detection of microorganisms (claimed). The samples may be respiratory gases, swabbed samples or blood. The condition may be a disease state and its progression or regression and it may be a bacterial, viral, fungal or parasitic infection. The response may be correlated with the effectiveness of a course of treatment. or healing process.ADVANTAGE - The apparatus can be used in a clinical environment in a day-to-day basis in a clinical environment.
