Abstract
Goal-setting is a vital stage in the corporate planning process - goals being the means by which an organisation's long-term objectives are oprerationalised. A rigorous goal-setting discipline is necessary for effectimentation of the strategic plan - the resultant network of goals acting as a model of the organisation's strategy over the planning period. The study described, confirms the value of business gaming as a medium for improving goal-setting competence. Analytical findings support the work motivation theory of a positive linear relationship existing between level of goal difficulty and corresponding task performance.
