Abstract

The pandemic displaced Asian workers in Japan disproportionally. Unable to return to their home country, young workers from Vietnam found themselves stranded in Japan after their three-year visas had expired. Others lost their jobs, homes, and livelihood. This film shows how Vietnamese and Japanese in Japan celebrated the 2022 Lunar New Year at Daionji, where the nun Thích Tâm Trí has been caring for Vietnamese workers and students in need. Here she brought a sense of home to those Vietnamese who couldn't return during the pandemic.
