Housing policies in developing countries: Sites-and-services and aided self-help

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

This article considers the use of 'sites and services' programmes in the global South. This intervention grew in popularity during the 1970s with mixed success. While site and service strategies have not been directly replicated, their principles (which are themselves modelled on the observed practice of housing development and consolidation) have been repeated.
