    Abstract

The process of colour communication contributes to long lead times in the design and production processes for a wide range of products. The key problems are how to define colour precisely enough to avoid mistakes and how to visualize and communicate precise colour specifications. The UMIST Colour Communication Research Group has five years of experience in applying CIE colorimetry and colour calibration to the problems of colour management in the textile industry and the relevant results are reported in this paper.
