Implementing a maintenance strategy: a holistic approach

    Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

    Abstract

Condition monitoring (CM) is very popular in theory and practice. However, the potential benefits of CM systems to most organisations can be hampered by the lack of consideration of some key elements of an effective maintenance system. Using the coal workshop of a cement manufacturing plant as case study, this article proposes a holistic approach towards the selection and implementation of an effective CM system as an integral part of overall plant maintenance strategy. The concepts and findings presented in this article form part of a Reliability Engineering and Asset Management (REAM) MSc project conducted at the University of Manchester (UK).
