Abstract

We investigated the potential of fine antifriction carbon-containing layers applied by the plasma-assisted method to improve the behavior of MAO-coatings on aluminum alloys in friction. Friction coefficient was measured at sliding of tungsten carbide ball over the coated disc. It is demonstrated that vacuum-plasma treatment reduces the friction coefficient from 0.62 to 0.18, the behavior of the friction couple becomes steady due to weaker adhesion between the bodies.
