Abstract
This article reflects on what the possible endgame is for the Israeli annexation of Palestinian land that is now being explored with the support of the American government. I suggest that Israel’s long-term objective goes beyond de facto or de jure apartheid. I conclude that two actions might help avert further catastrophes and maximize prospects for full equality and democracy. First, anti-apartheid mobilizations vis-à-vis Israel/Palestine should embrace a broader anti-war commitment within the region as a whole. Second, ongoing campaigns for liberalism and individual rights should be woven into notions of federalism, bi-nationalism, and collective rights.
