INERTIA OF A GENERAL CYLINDER IN AN ARBITRARY FLOW CONFIGURATION.

    Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

    Abstract

A method is described for calculating inertia and other forces on a cylinder of offshore structure due to oscillatory flow within arbitrary boundaries. The surfaces are represented by source sheets which are devided into elements of constant strength so that the strength distribution may be calculated numerically. Calculating the influence of each element as a sheet source rather than a point source can reduce considerably the number of elements needed to give accurate results. The program may be modified readily to calculate the diffraction of linear waves by vertical surfaces.
