Abstract

Launched in 2023, the NHS Delivery Plan for Recovering Urgent and Emergency Care (UEC) Services is a substantial two-year initiative that aims to enhancing care delivery for both service users and staff. The NIHR funded REVAL team, University of Manchester have undertaken a very rapid evaluation of the early implementation and impact of 10 ‘high impact’ initiatives prioritised as part of the UEC Recovery Plan.

We gathered insights from NHS Regions, Systems and Providers through a combination of a national online survey and a series of semi structured interviews with key informants at each level. These insights provide early signals of how the ‘high impact’ announcement initially landed and on the nature and type of initiatives being implemented across the NHS.
