Intrinsic pinning of yorticity by domain walls of Îtexture in superfluid3He-A

    Abstract

    The observations of strong trapping of continuous vortices in superfluid 3He-A stable defects of its order parameter and models of the relevant critical states were analyzed. The persistent currents in 3He-A in wide channel and zero magnetic field were also observed. The flow was also induced in a rotating cryoslat using a torsional oscillator as a probe. It was found that the hysteretic dependences of the trapped vorticity on the maximal angular velocity of rotation were fairly universal for different densities of domain wall and slab thicknesses.
