Abstract

The asynchroneity of glacial maxima across the world during the last glacial cycle emphasises the need to re-evaluate the concept of a ‘Last Glacial Maximum’ representing a single global event when glaciers reached their maximum extent. Glaciations were considerably more complex in terms of the timing and extent than previously appreciated
