Abstract

This reports explores some of the political consequences of digital inequalities in Spain. Using survey data the study presents an analysis of the digital gap and its evolution between 2001 and 2013. Results then show that individuals who have higher levels of digital skills are more likely to engage politically both online and offline. The report concludes with a mixed message: while the the digital gap does not tend to disappear over time, levels of digital skills are increasing among all groups. Traditionally disadvantaged groups are increasingly accessing new online resources that are associated with political engagement.
