Abstract

The Drinking Water Inspectorate’s (DWI) reports for England and Wales critically observe that if the rate of lead pipe replacement in the agreed AMP8 undertakings are maintained in future AMP periods South West and Bournemouth will be first to achieve a ‘lead free’ status by 2078. However, it will be 1,300 years later before the areas supplied by Northumbrian Essex and Suffolk Water achieve the same status.
