Abstract
The invention provides scintillator mols., consisting of one or more X moieties, which is a phosphor, covalently attached to one or more R1 moieties which is a lipophilic or amphiphilic group, wherein the scintillator mol. is capable of integrating into a cell, a cell membrane, a biol. membrane, an artificial membrane or a delivery vehicle and when integrated can act as a phosphor. Also provided are liposomes or micelles contg. the novel scintillator compds., methods for prepg. the liposomes or micelles contg. the novel scintillator compds. and the use of the liposomes or micelles as delivery vehicles to insert the scintillator compds. into the cell membranes of cells. In addn., the invention provides cells contg. the novel scintillator compds. and the use of the cells in assay systems. [on SciFinder (R)]
