Living with Loss in the City: Implications for Age Friendly Communities

Research output: Other contribution

Abstract

The seminar explored the complexity of loss as perception and lived reality in the city, and its implications for health and civic participation.

Research examples of destruction (or the threat of) to natural and built environments in Manchester raise questions for how change is managed, and how society is cared for at a local and policy level. Issues of grief, memory, connectivity, resilience, culture, and inequalities come to the fore, demanding loss be taken seriously within ageing-related research and practice.
