Los cuidados en el laboratorio y la vida familiar en la academia

This research is part of the Social Studies of Science and Technology, specifically the notions of Karin Knorr Cetina, along with the consideration of the "care crisis" over the research and results. The objective of the research is the analysis of the search for balance in the relationship between family life and academics, specifically in the distribution of care responsibilities. But in addition to investigate what emerges from the interviewees the notion of care applied not only in the family context, but also taking it to the workplace (chemical laboratories), where the results and conclusions are made. In this research are realized 3 interviews in any cases of 17 academics (woman’s and man’s) of a Faculty of Chemistry, a Chilean university, from a biographical approach from the life stories of each. The findings lie on the critical of the notion of care in other areas of research, which in this case in science.
