    Abstract

SN2008ax in NGC4490 (CBET 1280) has been detected at 5GHz using MERLIN. Observations carried out using the Knockin, Darnhall and Tabley antennas (giving a maximum baseline of 67 km) between 14-17th March 2008 at 4.994 GHz result in a point source detection with an integrated flux density of 2.0 mJy with a 3-sigma noise limit of 0.23 mJy/beam. Further 5 GHz observations with five telescopes (maximum baseline of 217 km) between 23rd and 25th March 2008 show that the source brightened to 2.7 mJy (3-sigma = 0.11 mJy/beam).
