Abstract
The numbers and properties of the metastable states of an infinite-range spin glass at T=0 with cubic spin anisotropy are investigated. The author evaluates the 'direct average' (Ns)J over the bond distribution rather than (lnN)J, leading to results which are exact above a critical energy epsilon c. He finds no gaps in the Hessian or spin-wave spectra, the latter result being in conflict with the numerical work of L.R. Walker and R.E. Walstedt (1980). He speculates that their result is due to finite-size effects.
