Micromechanics of yarn-level hybrid composite lamina

Research output: Contribution to conferencePaperpeer-review

Abstract

This study aimed to develop a rigorous method for
reproducing the microstructure of UD lamina with yarn-level
hybridization. In the computational model, two different fibres are
combined in an epoxy matrix. The RVE's von Mises stress
distribution is investigated under transverse loadings. The effect
of the fibre type on the matrix varies. In this case, hybridization is
used to balance in-plane and out-of-plane effective moduli.
