Abstract
Summary For 36 years, the acetylation of lysine 40 in α-tubulin has provided the paradigm for how post-translational acetylation stabilises microtubules. A new study demonstrates that acetylation of lysine 394 in α-tubulin also mediates microtubule stabilisation in neurons.
