    Abstract

Ceramics in the solid soln. of Ba(6-3x)Pr(8+2x)Ti18O54 (where x = 0, 0.15, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, 0.75) have been prepd. by the mixed oxide route. Single phase ceramics were obtained. The microstructure of these ceramics are composed of needle-like grains in the range of 1-10 m; the aspect ratio of the grains increased with the increasing x. Higher temps. were required to obtain high d. ceramics at compns. with higher x value. The microwave dielec. properties of the Ba(6-3x)Pr(8+2x)Ti18O54 strongly depends on the x value. The relationship between microstructures and dielec. properties are reported. Ceramics with x = 0.5 were also prepd. by a chem. route; the properties were k = 91, Q = 1600 at 4 GHz and tf of 160 ppm/ DegC. [on SciFinder (R)]
