Abstract

Migration and development have been linked from the beginnings of modern migration studies. Both are processes that represent change and any linkage between the two is not simply one way with migration as a consequence of development: migration itself impacts upon development as migrants move money and ideas between origins and destinations. Remittances, skilled migration and brain drain/gain, and the role played by diaspora in development are some of the most important themes in current migration and development debates.
