    Abstract

    Focused ion beam etching has been used to introduce one-dimensional photonic crystals between the cleaved facets of terahertz quantum cascade lasers. These micro-structured lasers showed single-mode emission at specific wavelengths, governed by the respective photonic crystal lattice constants. © 2006 Optical Society of America.
