Abstract

The construction of the MU5 computer system has recently been completed in the Department of Computer Science for the University of Manchester, England. The design aims of the system were to reflect the structure of high level languages in the structure of the hardware so as to permit the writing of more efficient compilers which in turn would produce more efficient object code.
