Abstract

When we began to plan for the Museum Ethnographers Group (MEG)
2020 conference, Museum Ethnography and Creative Practice it seemed like an
opportune time for MEG members to gather in Liverpool. At the end of 2017,
the recently renamed Globalization department at World Museum began a
programme of change in the World Cultures gallery called #WMWhereNext
(World Museum Where Next).1 The aim was/is (this is an on-going, iterative
process) to create a series of interventions into the permanent displays that
challenge the established form and content of the ethnographic museum...
