Abstract
Taking a cognitive approach, this paper explores individual team memberʼs perceptions of a construction project and identifies prominent processes in the project lifecycle which contribute to the perceptions of success. Approached through a case investigation, this study compares three building conversion projects. Cognitive mapping was employed to capture and analyse individual perceptions of the construction project. The findings indicate that not all construction projects need to adhere to the same success criteria to be perceived as successful, variation in the nested processes can also be beneficial.
