Michael Schmidt (Editor)

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingForeword/postscript

Abstract

The author, in her early twenties, was possessed of a timeless rural wisdom and a prophetic style that put us in mind of Marilynne Robinson’s Gilead novels, but without benefit of clergy: God is absent from the gradually parching landscape of Johnson’s first novel.
