Abstract

One of the most important factors determining food storage time is keeping food under the right
conditions. One of the effective methods in the literature for increasing food storage time is discharging some of the air in the section where the food is stored. When the vacuum chamber is implemented to household refrigerators, forced convection cannot be used to cool food, since the air of the refrigerator does not directly contact food in the vacuum chamber. Therefore, air channels around the vacuum chamber are designed for acting as a heat exchanger to reduce the vacuum chamber temperature. The purpose of the current study was to investigate the aerodynamic design of the vacuum chamber cooling channels by simulating the channel parameters with Computational Fluid Dynamics
and evaluate affecting parameters.
