    Abstract

A time averaged orbiting potential (TOP) trap was established in which the anisotropy can be tuned while keeping the trap frequencies high. The resulting trap offers the opportunity to investigate a range of interesting phenomena in Bose-Einstein condensates related to the trap geometry.
