OGWs: Cogs in the Machinery in J&K

Research output: Other contributionpeer-review

Abstract

This article examines the pivotal role of Over Ground Workers (OGWs) in sustaining terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. Highlighting recent arrests and incidents, it underscores the evolving challenges faced by security forces. OGWs facilitate terrorism through logistical support and terror funding. The surge in arrests post-2019 indicates escalating activity. Collaborative strategies involving vigilant security agencies and targeted legal actions are crucial to counter OGW networks. However, a nuanced approach is necessary to address underlying socio-economic grievances and prevent inadvertent radicalisation. Ultimately, neutralising OGW networks is essential for lasting peace in the region.
