Abstract
A method for increasing the sensitivity of collinear laser spectroscopy was developed. This method utilized ion trapping techniques and was applied for the measurement of the nuclear moments and charge radius of 175Hf. It was found that the change in charge radius at 175Hf was compatible with the intrinsic static quadrupole deformation which inferred that 175Hf had the most deformed ground state in the hafnium chain.
